Introducing Guy Beringer
In November 1999, Allen & Overy announced that Guy Beringer would take the reins as the firm's senior partner in May 2000. A graduate of Cambridge, Beringer was named a corporate partner in 1985. At the time of his selection as the firm's senior partner, the 44 year old Beringer was the youngest in Allen & Overy history to hold the post, and the youngest among his magic circle counterparts. Beringer indicated his priorities for growth would be "expanding the firm's presence in Europe, continuing the growth of its American law group, and ensuring it continues to operate as a single integrated entity."
