The 1990s were kind to Greenberg Traurig - the firm added ten offices during the decade, tripling in size. Today, with over 500 attorneys, Greenberg Traurig weighs in as one of Florida's largest and most successful law firms. While offering 26 areas of legal expertise, firm higher-ups have indicated their focus on four key practice groups: real estate, securities, info-tech/entertainment, and international.
Staying flexible internationally
As for the latter category, Greenberg naturally looks south for business. However, except for a small Sao Paulo outpost, the firm has been reluctant to open branch offices in South America. "We don't believe in foreign offices," Ron Schemen, chair of the firm's international group, told the National Law Journal, adding: "We want the flexibility to get the best local specialists in each area."
