Left coaster One of the oldest California law firms, McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen has throughout its history placed itself at the center of business developments on the West Coast. In 1903, for example, the firm opened an office in Nome, Alaska to better serve a client involved in the Klondike gold rush. In 2000 McCutchen Doyle continues to cash in on the gold rush of the high tech variety. Top-tier tech clients such as Apple Computer (for licensing transactions) and Amazon.com ("one-click" E-commerce litigation) turn to the firm for representation. 23.3 percent and rising For women lawyers looking to make partner, the Bay Area remains the place to be. In a 1999 American Lawyer survey, seven of the 10 firms with the highest percentage of women partners were found in San Francisco. McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen took second place in the survey, with 23.3 percent (Chicago's Jenner & Block came in third, with 19.7 percent.).
