Here's to the new economy Mintz Levin describes itself as a "multidisciplinary firm with a regional, national and international practice," and splits its 300+ lawyers into 26 areas with three consulting wings. The Boston-based firm, however, wins the most recognition for its work in high-tech, communications and intellectual property. One, er, notable deal for 2000 was representing longtime client America Online in its epic $156 billion acquisition of Time Warner, announced in early January. New York's Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett also represented AOL. Bold move into NYC With offices in Boston, New York, Washington DC Mintz Levin has at least three of the East Coast's high-tech centers covered. In August 1999, the firm opened another branch in high-tech boomtown Reston, Virgina. Mintz Levin has caught particular attention for its brave move into the New York City. In January 2000, The National Law Journal reported that the firm had lured away "several" lawyers from O'Sullivan Graev & Karabell, and firm officials indicated plans to grow the firm to 40 lawyers by April 2000.
