 | | | | | Childhood: Osteosarcoma More info on this condition | |
| | | Symptoms | | | | | The first sign of osteosarcoma is usually pain or a painless swelling or mass in the legs or arms. Tumors in or near joints can cause stiffness or tenderness. If the cancer is in the pelvic area or at the base of the spine, patients may experience a loss of bladder or bowel function or back pain. Fractures can result from most forms of bone cancer. Osteosarcomas can weaken bones and cause them to fracture with little or no trauma. Children with this condition may complain of minor limb pain for a few months and then experience more severe pain.
