What do I do if my car starts to hydroplane?
Hydroplaning, or aquaplaning, is when your tires lose traction as you drive though a pool of water. It's extremely dangerous to hydroplane because you can't brake or steer your car, since the tires don't have any traction. If you find yourself hydroplaning, don't turn the steering wheel or apply the brakes. Instead, keep your tires straight and start to let up on the gas (slowly). Caution: If you release the gas pedal too suddenly, it could make your car spin out.
