How do I make meatballs for pasta sauce? |
|
 |
Here's a good all-purpose meatball recipe (makes about 20 meatballs). You'll need:
- 1/2 pound (.2 kilos) lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound (.2 kilos) Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup (120 milliliters) dry bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup (60 milliliters) finely chopped onion
Preheat oven to 400F (200C). Combine all ingredients into a large bowl and use your hands to mix them together well (wash your hands before and after handling the mix).
Shape the mix into 1.5-inch (4-centimeter) meatballs, place them on an ungreased baking sheet, and bake 10 to 15 minutes until browned.
Let them drain on paper towels to remove some excess fat before you add them to your sauce.
