How do I choose a good melon? |

Look for a melon that's a little flat on one side. This indicates that the melon was left on the vine to ripen, not plucked too soon.
To test for ripeness, gently press around the stem; if the fruit yields just a bit, it is ripe. You'll also smell a faint fruit odor when it's ready to eat.
