Learn2 Mull Wine or Cider (continued)
Step 6: Mull cider on the stove or in the microwave

Mulling apple cider is comparatively straightforward:
  • Put eight cups of apple cider in a saucepan.

  • Add 15 whole cloves, four sticks of cinnamon, fruit slices from two lemons and one large orange, with skin and white pith removed. You can also add 1/2 tablespoon ground nutmeg and 1/2 tablespoon ground allspice, if you like.

  • Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 30 to 35 minutes.

  • Pour the mixture through a strainer, cheesecloth, or colander.

  • Pour into mugs and garnish with fruit slices. It's ready to serve!

  • If you choose to microwave cider one mug at a time, mix a proportionate amount of the ingredients together and microwave for one minute on high power (depending on the wattage of your microwave). It's OK if the cider boils.
Whether you've prepared wine or cider--on the stovetop or in the microwave--it's bound to be delicious. Now it's time to sit back and sip the fruits of your efforts. Cheers!
