Choose a Private School for Your Child
(continued)

Step 2:
Search for schools

You can find listings of private schools in your phone book, specialized books (available in libraries and school counseling offices), or on the Internet. If you decide to search on the Internet, try various keywords, including "private school," "boarding school," "Christian school," and so on.
It's a good idea to choose several schools that meet your criteria, as admissions and financial aid are frequently limited. By choosing several options, you increase your child's chances of finding a good fit. During the selection process, you'll also discover that less obvious qualities, such as friendliness and enthusiasm, are more prevalent at certain schools.
When you've chosen several schools, call or send away for school catalogs and admissions information. If you're planning on seeking financial aid, ask for information about this as well.
