Research Your Family Tree
(7 steps)
|
|
Climb your family tree!

Have you ever wondered about your family's history? What were the names of your ancestors and where did they come from? Genealogical research can be fun and rewarding. Even if you find yourself chasing false leads and visiting archive after archive only to leave empty-handed, it all becomes worthwhile when you do finally locate an old document that reveals a long-lost link to the past.
Each nugget of family history you discover can potentially open the door to more. Like a scavenger hunt, each genealogical fact you unearth becomes a clue that can move you back in time, from generation to generation. And someday, all the time and energy you put into this research will really pay off when you can pass it along to your family's next generation.
Before you begin
Decide what branch of the family you want to research. For example, you could start with the ancestors of your mother's mother, your mother's father, your father's mother, or your father's father. Concentrating on one branch at a time can help focus and organize your research.
