Find a Good Bed and Breakfast
(continued)

Step 3:
Make reservations
When you've found your bed and breakfast, call or write to make reservations. Give the innkeepers a flexible time frame, if possible. Your first contact is also an excellent time to begin rapport with the innkeepers, asking them questions about their facilities or the area, and letting them know a little about you and what you need.
Most inns take credit cards, but you may find one that doesn't. If this is the case, ask for a mailing address, and send a check ahead of time to reserve your space. You can also ask your future hosts for tips on what to pack and what kind of traffic to expect. From the very beginning, a stay at a bed and breakfast puts the emphasis on friendliness and hospitality. Don't be surprised if you find yourself returning year after year. Getting away to a bed and breakfast may be your most memorable vacation ever.
