Last Tuesday, terrorists attempted to threaten our way of life by committing horrific acts of violence on American soil. They did not succeed. From firefighters searching for their brothers in the rubble of the World Trade Center to candlelight vigils and 6-hour waiting lists for blood donations, the American people have shown their true devotion to freedom.

In an address to the nation Thursday evening, President Bush discussed the recovery and response efforts that the government plans to implement during this time of crisis.

Operation Infinite Justice
President Bush has already deployed soldiers, ships and aircraft to the Persian Gulf area. In his speech, the president asserted, “This war… will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a single American was lost in combat.” Do you feel prepared for the fact that some American military personnel will lose their lives in what the Pentagon is calling Operation Infinite Justice?

The Economy
In the past, President Bush had promised not to dip into the Social Security surplus unless there was an emergency, a recession or a war. The president now feels that we have experienced all three of these things. Would you support the Social Security surplus being used for recovery and response efforts during this critical time?

United We Stand
The president said, “Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.
