On Sunday, American flags were raised again to full staff as our “official” national period of mourning ended with regard to the terrorist attacks of September 11th.

The events of the 11th proved that as a nation we are vulnerable, and the FBI is now taking greater measures to protect our security. Citing national security reasons, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration extended a ban on crop-dusters through Tuesday, September 25 at 12:05 a.m. in each time zone. This decision came as a result of FBI concerns of a possible biological or chemical terrorist attack. Even when this ban is lifted, crop-dusters will not be allowed to operate near metropolitan areas.

This ban was imposed because a man being held as a witness in the investigation into the September 11th attacks was found to possess a crop-dusting manual. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld would not rule out the possibility that terrorists were planning to use chemical or biological weapons: "We can't know that for certain. We can suspect it."

As America slowly begins to forge what President Bush calls “a different kind of war” against terrorism, the government is looking to use every piece of intelligence and law enforcement to end this global network of terror. On Monday, President Bush announced that the U.S. has frozen assets of 27 suspected terrorists and terrorist organizations. According to the president, these 27 individuals and organizations are the first of many that will be stripped of financial support.
