What are the system requirements for installing the Co-Pilot?
The iWon Co-Pilot is currently available for Windows 95, Windows 98, Window NT 4.0, Windows 2000
and Windows XP. It is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and
higher. The iWon Co-Pilot software and cache require only 300k of disk space on the disk drive containing your windows directory (usually the C: drive). If you are currently able to run a supported web browser on your computer, you should be able to install and run the iWon Co-Pilot. In particular, your web browser and the iWon Co-Pilot require a 486 or newer, compatible processor, 16 MB of RAM, VGA display (SVGA is recommended), a mouse or similar pointing device, and Internet access.

Does the iWon Co-Pilot track where I go on the Internet? The Co-Pilot does not monitor or report back to iWon with information about where you are traveling when you leave the iWon service (which includes our co-branded sites) or what you do on other Web sites.
Keep in mind that the Co-Pilot is subject -- in all respects -- to iWon's privacy policy. This means that we will not share any personally identifiable information you provide (whether it comes through the Co-Pilot or anywhere else) unless you have given us permission to do so.

How is the Co-Pilot able to show me my sweepstakes entries when I'm not on the iWon site? The Co-Pilot contains functionality that allows the Co-Pilot to show the entries you receive in the iWon Sweepstakes when using iWon, but this functionality relates only to iWon and does not apply to any sites you may visit that are not part of the iWon service. This functionality does not involve any communication between your computer and the Internet (including our web servers).
In addition, the Co-Pilot communicates periodically with our servers to determine if there are any updates to the Co-Pilot software and to determine what button and menu items to display. If there is an update, the Co-Pilot will notify you and seek your consent BEFORE changing your Co-Pilot.

How can I feel safe knowing the Co-Pilot is not "spyware"? The following should help clarify that the Co-Pilot is NOT spying on you and that we take guarding your privacy seriously.
| |
1) The Co-Pilot DOES NOT track, collate or aggregate any information about a user when the user is NOT on the iWon service.
2) The Co-Pilot DOES NOT collect information stored on your user system and DOES NOT upload information from your computer system to iWon.
3) The Co-Pilot IS subject to iWon's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
4) The Co-Pilot can be uninstalled from the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel AND from the Co-Pilot toolbar itself. In both cases, all of the Co-Pilot's registry settings that hook the Co-Pilot into your web browser are deleted. It is also safe to delete the Co-Pilot's executable code without uninstalling the Co-Pilot. The Co-Pilot's executable code is (by default) installed in a sub-directory of "Program FilesiWoniWonBar" on the user's drive containing their Windows directory.
5) Installation of the Co-Pilot DOES NOT change the signature of any email or newsgroup clients or cause such clients to advertise the iWon service.
6) The Co-Pilot DOES NOT update itself without telling the user in advance and asking for authorization. |
Our intention was to build a toolbar that would be of value to our members by helping them keep track of their entries and providing easy access to iWon's features, content and search functionality. At the same time, we take the privacy concerns of our members seriously and we have tried to design the Co-Pilot out of respect for these concerns. We believe that we have succeeded and will continue to work on improving the Co-Pilot with these concerns in mind.

My Co-Pilot entry counter doesn't show my entry totals -- it just says, "Check my entries." Why? Any time you log onto the Internet, you must visit iWon to activate your iWon Co-Pilot's entry counter. Once you've done so, the iWon Co-Pilot will keep count of your Weekday/Weekend, Monthly Bonus and Annual entries for as long as you're online. It's that easy!
Remember, in order to earn entries, you must first be a registered iWon member.

The Co-Pilot says, "Retrieving buttons from iWon..." In some cases, this will happen when you first launch your browser. Retrieving buttons should not last more than 10 seconds. If it takes longer than 10 seconds, you might not be connected to the Internet. You must first connect to the Internet using a network login or ISP account.

Microsoft has reported a significant bug with versions of Internet Explorer between 5.0.0.0 and 5.00.2919.0. If your Internet Explorer version number is within this range and your computer's operating system is Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer. The bug in these versions may prevent you from successfully using the iWon Co-Pilot.
To find out what version of Internet Explorer you have, go to the Help menu located at the top of your browser. Select "About Internet Explorer." A box will appear that tells you what version you have.
If at some point you uninstalled the iWon Co-Pilot, and you are using a Microsoft browser, you may experience difficulty seeing it right away if you attempt to re-install it. The easiest way to make the Co-Pilot reappear is to close and restart your Web browser.
