This poem, which was written by my friend, has become the inspiration behind the Just One Single Seed Foundation or the JOSS Foundation. I decided on the name because of the meaning it has: with just one seed, you can fulfill many dreams.

What is the JOSS Foundation?

The JOSS Foundation is an organization that adopts an underprivileged kindergarten class and watches each child grow through the academic system. As long as they are accepted into a college, the JOSS Foundation will pay for their tuition.

Why did I start the JOSS Foundation?

I believe that children should be given the opportunity to be whatever they want to be - whether it is an anthropologist, veterinarian, lawyer, teacher or restaurant manager. Children should be given the chance to attend college so they can reach their dream, but for some, financial obstacles stand in the way. The JOSS Foundation was started to help these less fortunate children fulfill their dreams by receiving a college education.

How I got the idea?

I have spent my entire life making a list of different charities I wanted to sponsor and help, but no matter how much I gave, I never felt it was enough. Then one day my life took a dramatic turn when I won $2 million dollars from iWon.com and Sprint. I knew right away that this money would go toward the betterment of society.

Ever since my children were born, I always believed that they could do whatever they wanted to do and my husband and I would be there 100% to support them. My sons are among the fortunate few who have parents that support them and can afford to send them to any college they choose. I realize that giving a child an education is giving a child a future. For this reason, I am taking my good fortune and creating the JOSS Foundation. Through the help of the Alliance 4 Education, I will be able to adopt an underprivileged kindergarten class and watch them grow until they reach college. www.alliance4education.org

How to help?

The name of the organization, Just One Single Seed, says it all. No matter how much you give, one single donation can go a long way. We have big plans for the future of the JOSS Foundation, and we plan on adopting a new class every four years. Any little bit will help and we are currently accepting donations. Please send all donations and inquires to:
