Other worthwhile titles by this author include A Grain of Wheat, Matigari and The River Between.Meja Mwangi is a well-known Kenyan author whose books are a good introduction to East African literature. His most famous works include Going Down River Road, Kill Me Quick, The Return of Shaka and Weapon for Hunger.Elspeth Huxley's Flame Trees of Thika tells the story of the white settler experience through the eyes of a young girl. Karen Blixen's (Isak Dinesen) Out of Africa covers similar turf from an adult perspective.Other titles to look for include The Man from Pretoria by Kenyan conservationist and journalist Hilary Ngweno and The Present Moment by Marjorie Oludhe Magoye.
